The 2027 Hill District Grandstand Ag Mechanics Show is proud to welcome Adren Pilger as this year’s judge. With decades of experience in agricultural education and Ag Mechanics, Adren brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for helping young people develop skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
Education and Career in Agriculture
Adren earned his degree in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University in 1983.
He went on to spend more than 20 years in Texas public schools, serving as both an Ag Teacher and administrator. Throughout his career, Adren had the opportunity to work directly with young people and see firsthand the difference agricultural education can make in their lives.
He retired from public education in 2017.
A Wealth of Judging Experience
Adren has judged Ag Mechanics projects at the local, county, and state levels, bringing years of experience evaluating projects and interacting with youth exhibitors.
His judging background also includes serving for two years on the Grand Champion Committee at the Houston Show.
For Adren, however, judging is about more than evaluating the finished product. He enjoys visiting with exhibitors, learning about their projects, and recognizing the work that went into bringing an idea to life.
Why Adren Judges
Adren views judging as an opportunity to give back to a program he has seen make a lasting difference in young people’s lives.
He enjoys working directly with exhibitors and hearing about the process behind their projects. After spending decades in agricultural education, he is proud to continue playing a role in the growth and development of young people through agriculture.
The Value of Ag Mechanics
Adren believes competing in Ag Mechanics gives young people an incredible opportunity to develop their skills and showcase their talents.
Throughout the process, exhibitors work, learn, problem-solve, and grow. The technical and personal skills they develop while completing their projects can continue serving them long after their time as exhibitors comes to an end.
Words of Wisdom
Adren shares a quote from Casey Kasem that perfectly captures the attitude he encourages young exhibitors to carry with them:
“Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
It’s a simple reminder to stay grounded, work hard, and continue striving toward bigger goals.
Family and Personal Life
Adren and his wife, Susan, now live in Navasota, Texas. Together, they have three children and eight grandchildren.
After a career dedicated to agricultural education, family and giving back to the next generation remain important parts of Adren’s life.
Looking Ahead
As the 2027 Hill District Grandstand Ag Mechanics Judge, Adren Pilger brings decades of experience as an agricultural educator, administrator, and judge to this year’s competition.
We’re proud to welcome Adren to the 2027 Hill District Grandstand and look forward to seeing the talent, craftsmanship, and hard work our Ag Mechanics exhibitors bring to the show!
