The 2027 Hill District Grandstand Turkey Show is proud to welcome Jason Mooney as this year’s judge. With a strong background in poultry science, extensive judging experience, and a passion for giving back to the agricultural community, Jason brings valuable knowledge and perspective to the show ring.

Agricultural Roots and Education

Jason is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned his degree in Poultry Science. His connection to agriculture has remained an important part of his life throughout both his career and his involvement in livestock shows.

Professionally, Jason has spent 28 years with H-E-B and currently works in Supply Chain.

A Wealth of Judging Experience

Jason has judged at all major shows as well as numerous county shows, giving him the opportunity to work with exhibitors and families across the livestock industry.

His years of experience have given him an appreciation not only for quality livestock, but also for the hard work and dedication that youth exhibitors put into their projects.

Why Jason Judges

For Jason, judging is an opportunity to give back and share time with the agricultural community.

He believes involvement in agriculture and the rural way of life may not always be easy, but the rewards are worth the effort. Through livestock projects, young people learn how to care for animals, create something meaningful, overcome challenges, and understand the role agriculture plays in nourishing our communities.

Jason encourages exhibitors and families to remember the importance of perseverance, especially when things get difficult.

His message to exhibitors is to keep working through those tough times. The lessons learned through challenges are part of what makes involvement in agriculture so valuable.

Family and Personal Life

Family is an important part of Jason’s life. He has been married for 28 years and is the proud father of three adult children — all three of whom attended Texas A&M University.

His family’s connection to the Aggie community is just one more way agriculture and education have remained an important part of their lives.
