2027 Hill District Grandstand Livestock Show | Tuesday, January 12, 2027 | Kerrville, Texas

The Hill District Grandstand Livestock Show is excited to welcome Seth Keplinger of Springfield, Ohio, as the Market Barrow Judge for the 2027 show on Tuesday, January 12!

Seth brings extensive experience in the show pig industry, both as a breeder and a respected livestock judge. A graduate of Urbana University with a degree in Middle Childhood Education, Seth is the owner and operator of Keplinger Farms, a 150-sow show pig operation specializing in Crossbred, Duroc, Hampshire, and Yorkshire genetics.

With judging experience in more than 35 states, Seth has evaluated livestock at every level, from county fairs and jackpot shows to state and national competitions. His impressive judging résumé includes major events such as The Exposition, Winter National, Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE), San Antonio, Indiana State Fair, Missouri State Fair, and AYE.

Beyond the show ring, Seth enjoys attending sporting events, supporting his children as they exhibit livestock, and cheering them on in their athletic activities. He and his wife, Kenzie, have four children: Eli, Clinton, Clara, and Isla.

Building Character Through Livestock Projects

For Seth, youth livestock and agricultural mechanics projects offer lessons that extend far beyond the show ring. He firmly believes that work ethic is one of the most important qualities a young person can develop, and that involvement in agricultural projects provides an incredible opportunity to build that foundation.

From early mornings in the barn to the dedication required to prepare for show day, these experiences teach young exhibitors responsibility, perseverance, and the value of hard work—lessons that will serve them throughout their lives.

Seth shares a motivational quote with exhibitors and families that reflects his perspective on success:

“Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
— Winston Churchill
